For Everything There is a Season: The Present

This post is the second in a series of three installments.

Our focus is changing here on our homestead. While I will miss all the wonderful folks at Burnsville’s Yancey County Farmers market, I will be setting up at the Bakersville market this spring. It’s only four miles from our homestead. And that will allow me to turn my energies in a new direction.

My focus now will be in teaching and sharing. I’ve completed the North Carolina Master Gardener program (a very intense crash course in all things growing). I want to share and encourage others to grow their own foods, even if it’s just a single pot with a lovely tomato plant. I want to show you how you can still garden under the most difficult conditions of soil, slope and our capricious mountain weather. And how to garden year round if you want to move away from questionable, big store produce.

And last, but certainly not least, I want to have the courage to ask for help when it’s needed. We have an upcoming event on April 15th if you’re interested in coming to help and learn and – perhaps most importantly – eat large!

Register here for the fun and food at our Homestead Help & Feast Event. —
