We’re growing here in Bakersville! As most of you know, I decided not to continue vending at the Yancey County Farmers Market for 2023. Getting up at five and loading the truck in the dark (with critters making scary noises in the bushes!) was just getting to be too much at my stage of life.

So I decided to revive the Bakersville market instead and I think we’re getting there! For the first few weeks there were only a few vendors. It was just myself with produce, eggs and quiches, Ron Slagle with his famous sourdough breads, and two friends who do baked goods and candies.

Now there are twelve vendors when everyone shows up. Sometimes there are only seven of us but we’re definitely growing and I’ve had so many customers tell me they’re excited to have a local source for organic produce and other goodies.

For example, In the header photo above, Self Farms offers meats, jams, jellies– and delicious canned breakfast pork sausages. I’ve prepared their sausages in my quiches and scrambled eggs and can totally recommend them!

But worst of all about leaving the Yancey County market? I miss everyone there like crazy! I hope all of you who regularly stopped by my booth there are happy, healthy and doing well!

And if you-uns get a chance some summer Saturday, stop by my new booth from 9 AM – 12 noon and say “hey.”
