For Everything There is a Season: The Future– What’s Growing On.

For Everything There is a Season: The Future– What’s Growing On

I’m always gambling with our mountain weather, whether it’s growing vegetables throughout the winter or rushing the suggested planting dates in spring. We’ve got some pretty cold weather looming on the March radar but I have cabbages and bok choy that are ready to transplant– now!

Sometimes I win and sometimes I lose, but I think my gamble has paid off and I’m going to beat the system this year. The cabbages can still set in their pots for another two to three weeks and the bok choy can tolerate another week at least. I can transplant them out into my newly prepped garden beds according to the lunar calendar from the last two days of March through the first few days of April. And, if by chance we get those weird few nights in April with temps in the teens I can use frost blanket and low tunnels to protect the baby veggies.

Meanwhile, I am enjoying just looking at all these lovely plants and dreaming of a beautiful, overflowing garden this summer!
