So The Little Half Acre can add some serious income to the ol’ annual budget! Really excited!
The Tobacco Trust Fund set aside a ton of money years ago to assist tobacco farmers in transitioning from growing tobacco into other crops. I applied for the NC AgOptions Grant in October of 2017 and received word in January that I was a recipient of their $6,000 grant. This will cover most of the materials and labor to convert the 10 x 20 shed on our property into a growing room. I can triple or quadruple output with this new dedicated growing space. Plus, it will be a climate controlled space so the quality of my microgreens will improve.
Looks like 2018 is gonna be a good year! Not just for the grant but for other reasons as well. We’ve got lots of projects coming up that will greatly expand my veggie growing space and I will keep you posted —
