We’re finally opening The Little Half Acre Homestead for tours! In addition to guided tours we’re offering a self-guided tour. You pay $20 at the entrance (per carload) and pick up our detailed, informative brochure, including a map that locates and names the fruit trees in their permaculture guilds, as well as plants and vegetables. As you walk around the property at your leisure you’ll see how we use these organic polyculture and permaculture techniques to get as much out of our little plot of land as possible.
The homestead will be open for tours every Thursday, Friday and Saturday starting Thursday, June 15th. Hours for tours are from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. Of course you might see your Happy Homesteader (me!) out there working on a garden bed or two but we’ll pretty much leave you alone to enjoy the peace and serenity of our unique little place.
The chickens won’t be free ranging during tour hours and Clementine, our one remaining duck, makes herself scarce at the first sight of strangers– so you won’t have to worry about any of our critters. Sensible shoes are a must since our homestead is on a somewhat rocky slope. For more information check out the Events tab on our website.
