Well, now that it’s almost the end of July I guess it’s time to get back to work. At a farmer’s market that is. I’ve been working like mad all year prepping beds and planting but I’ve had most of the spring and summer off since I didn’t have any produce to sell. Thank you broken wrist that prevented my covering the garden beds to overwinter the hardy stuff like kale, collards, spinach and carrots.
Now all the stuff I planted in April and May is finally ready to harvest — chard, kale, carrots, green beans, squash, zucchini, herbs and beets. Sure has been nice having those Saturday mornings off and I’m sure gonna be grumpy when I’m out there this week at 6:00 with a headlamp on picking chard and kale. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted!
